AI opportunity assessment

AI opportunity and readiness assessment

A short, structured piece of work that tells you where AI is worth using in your organisation, what it is likely to be worth, and what it would take to deliver. You finish with a decision you can defend, not a list of ideas.

Who this is for

  • Organisations being asked to "do something with AI" without an agreed starting point
  • Leadership teams choosing between several competing AI proposals
  • Teams that have run pilots that never reached production
  • Regulated organisations that need feasibility and risk assessed before committing budget

The problem it solves

Many AI initiatives struggle before significant build work begins because the wrong problem, use case or delivery approach has been selected. Work is chosen because it is visible rather than because it removes manual effort, reduces risk or shortens a decision.

Without a shared view of workflows, systems and data quality, the cost of delivery is estimated loosely and the benefit often goes unmeasured. The result is activity that is hard to justify when the invoice arrives.

What we do

  • Interview the people who run the work and map the workflows end to end, including the exceptions
  • Review the systems, data and integration points each candidate opportunity depends on
  • Size the effort, the likely time saved or manual work removed, and the risk of each option
  • Rule out ideas that will not pay back, and say so plainly
  • Sequence what remains into an order that delivers value early

What you receive

  • Prioritised opportunity map
  • ROI and feasibility assessment
  • Risk and governance considerations
  • Recommended tools and approaches
  • 90-day implementation roadmap
  • A written summary your leadership team can act on

How the engagement works

  1. 01

    Discovery

Sessions with the teams doing the work, plus a review of systems and data.

  2. 02

    Analysis

Opportunities scored on business value, feasibility, effort and risk.

  3. 03

    Readout

A working session with your leadership team to agree the shortlist.

  4. 04

    Roadmap

A costed 90-day plan for the opportunities worth taking forward.

Common questions

How long does an assessment take?
It depends on the number of teams and systems in scope. We agree the scope, timeline and cost in writing before the work starts.
Do we need clean data before you start?
No. Assessing the state of your data and systems is part of the work, and we will tell you where readiness work is needed before AI is worth building.
What if the answer is that AI is not worth it?
Then we say so, and recommend the process or automation change that would help instead. That outcome is still a useful result.
Do we have to continue with you afterwards?
No. The roadmap is written so that your own team or another supplier can deliver it.
